Moscow Domodedovo Airport Upgrades Entrance Security Systems
May 30, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow's Moscow Domodedovo Airport has switched to a new generation of X-ray television introscopes (XTI) that were set up at the security checkpoints at the entrances to the Terminal. This is an advanced double-view check-in and hand baggage screening system with a smart function of automated detection of liquid and solid explosives.
«Visitor and passenger security is the priority in the development of Moscow Domodedovo Airport. We strive to offer our passengers maximum convenience and eliminate any potential nuisance associated with security screening. The new generation of security scanners will improve both the quality and speed of service at the entrances to the Terminal,» commented Mr. Igor Borisov, CEO at Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
24 new XTI units have been installed in the Terminal. The new XTI displays objects in the vertical and horizontal plane. This will facilitate the security check of, for example, objects in thick and multi-layered packaging.
Moscow's Moscow Domodedovo Airport is purposefully developing transport security technology. Technology upgrades and expansion of security screening areas in 2016 increased the checkpoint throughput by 30%. Over the past 5 years, the number of stationary scanners has grown by 38%, the number of explosives scanners has almost tripled, and the number of introscopes and portable metal detectors has doubled.
