A new cargo carrier, Sky Gates Airlines, launched at Moscow Domodedovo Airport

Cargo Boeing 747-400F, the first in Sky Gates Airlines' fleet, landed September 10 at Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

The new air freight airline signed a ground handling contract with Moscow Domodedovo Airport. To date, the airline has already established an operational maintenance station for its aircraft fleet at Moscow Domodedovo Airport and will soon start commercial flights from Domodedovo. This will contribute to the development of the airport's air freight capabilities, as the new cargo airline's route network will include both domestic and international destinations.

Last year, the cargo traffic through Moscow Domodedovo Airport totaled 152,380 tons, with more than 1720 takeoffs and landings by cargo aircraft. Moscow Domodedovo Airport continues to implement its investment program for the development of freight capacity. The program features an expansion project at the cargo terminal, scheduled for completion by mid-2017. Project will cost approx. RUB 3.0 billion. Additional 15,600 sq. m of storage space will more than double the terminal's capacity to approx. 440,000 tons per year.

Moscow Domoedovo Airport is one of Russia's largest aviation hubs. In 2015, the airport handled 30.5 million passengers. According to Skytrax rating, it is the best airport in Russia and the CIS. Members of the world's leading airline alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld - have chosen Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport for their flights to and from Moscow.
