In September, more than 35,000 passengers flew to Turkey. Antalya is the most popular destination

Moscow Domodedovo Airport reported its passenger traffic figures after the resumption of charter flights to Turkey. In September, 100 non-scheduled flights were flown from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Antalya and Dalaman, and the charter passenger traffic on routes between Moscow Domodedovo Airport and destinations in Turkey reached 36,100 passengers.

Highest positive growth rates of the tourist traffic were recorded on flights to Larnaca, Punta Cana, Phuket, Enfidha and Djerba - the demand for these flights increased 3.5 times compared to the same period last year. In the reporting period this year, 789,000 passengers were carried on these routes.

In January-September 2016, passenger traffic via Moscow Domodedovo Airport reached 22.2 million passengers. It is noteworthy that, in the first nine months, the domestic traffic via Moscow Domodedovo Airport approximately matched the last year's figure. Passenger traffic on international routes, other than to closed destinations in Egypt, Turkey (before the resumption of flights), and Ukraine, increased by 5% compared to January-September 2015.

International travelers via Moscow Domodedovo Airport between January and September 2016 totaled 9.2 million passengers. On domestic routes, the passenger traffic via Moscow Domodedovo Airport was 13.0 million. Sochi, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Mineralnye Vody were among the destinations with the largest increases in passenger traffic. Demand for the listed routes was 31% higher than in the same period last year and reached 3.0 million passengers.

We remind that in September Thai Airways, Thailand's flag carrier, announced the resumption of scheduled flights on the route Bangkok (Suvannaphum) - Moscow (Domodedovo) - Bangkok (Suvannaphum). In September, a new cargo air carrier, Sky Gates Airlines, launched flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Its first flight arrived from Hong Kong.

Moscow Domoedovo Airport is one of Russia's largest aviation hubs. In 2015, the airport handled 30.5 million passengers.
