Passengers enjoyed canine-assisted therapy sessions at Moscow Domodedovo Airport
29 April, 2019. Domodedovo, Moscow region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport partnered with the National Association of United Animal-Assisted Therapists to conduct an event as a part of a Hug a friend before your flight initiative.
On April 30 passengers got a chance to wait for their flight in a company of therapy dogs. Prior to public holidays on May 1 and May 9 Moscow Domodedovo Airport created a dedicated area where passengers could pat or hug a dog on the terminal’s first floor.
Fourteen therapy dogs, each with a story behind, took part in the event. For instance, a mutt named Klepa wandered off five years ago and lived in an animal shelter for a while before she has found her new family. Klepa actively participates in different events and visits orphan homes working as a therapist. Over the last seven years Tasya, a Toy Fox Terrier, has survived an illness, found a new family and started living her life to the full while working as an animal therapist. Tasya enjoys spending time with children helping them experience positive and inspiring emotions. Tasya also works as a therapist at hospices and retirement homes.
Pet owners together with volunteers from the National Association of United Animal-Assisted Therapists conducted canine-therapy sessions for passengers at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. They also took care of dogs ensuring they were not tired of people’s attention. All dogs are friendly and have all the necessary medical records.
The event advocates support for the animal rights charity Second Life.
