Q1 Passenger Traffic at Domodedovo Grew by 4.4%

April 20, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport, ranked the best airport in Russia, reported its performance indicators in March 2017. Passenger traffic grew by 7.8% compared to March 2016 - up to 2.1 million passengers.

«In Q1 2017, passenger traffic grew by 4.4% compared to same period last year and amounted to 6 million passengers. Since the second half of March, we have been recording double-digit growth rates of weekly indicators compared to same periods in 2016. According to our data, the trend continues in April, feeding positive expectations from the recently opened spring and summer air navigation period,» said Mr. Alexey Rayevsky, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer at Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

International destinations have recorded the strongest growth - during the three months, DME handled 2.4 million passengers, which is 10% more than in the same period last year. The most popular destinations were Dubai, Punta Cana, Yerevan, Istanbul, Verona. In January - March 2017, 463,000 passengers traveled on flights to these destinations. This is 45.5% higher than in Q1 2016.

In the first months of the year, 3.5 million passengers traveled on domestic flights from and to DME - a 1% increase compared to 2016. The most popular destinations included Krasnodar, Sabetta, Krasnoyarsk, Ufa, Barnaul. On these flights, the passenger traffic growth was up to 53%.

In Q1 2017, the cargo traffic at Moscow Domodedovo Airport also grew to 34,742 tons, which is a 12.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
