‘High’ fashion for ‘high flyers’: Flight Attendant’s Day at Domodedovo

On 12th July, Moscow Domodedovo Airport hosted an ‘avia fashion’ show - DME RUNWAY. The unique industry-related event confined to the international flight attendant’s day has been held at DME for the second straight year. Domodedovo’s passenger terminal has traditionally been chosen as the venue for showcasing modelling skills by representatives of one of the most romantic professions on Earth, with a catwalk stylized as an airport runway set right in the centre of the airport’s atrium.
This year the airport widened the footprint of the fashion geography, with DME’s partners from Russia, Japan, Israel, Bahrain, India, Austria and other countries taking part in demonstrating a glamorous avia collection of show stopping looks. Over 20 airline crews presented their unique designs of flight attendant uniforms created with due account for national origin of each carrier. The catwalk dazzled with a variety of presented styles – from traditional attire decorated with authentic ornaments to strictness of lines combined with bright accessories and, undoubtedly, to elegant classics.

The programme of ‘DME RUNWAY 2016’ went beyond just a fashion show and took the event to another level by presenting destinations of flights operated from Domodedovo Airport – currently, the number of destinations has reached 190. Importantly, regular flights from DME are performed by over 60 carriers. Aeroexpress acted as the transport partner of DME Runway avia fashion show and arranged transportation for guests of the event.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is one of the largest international airports in Russia, serving 30.5 mln passengers in 2015. The best airport in Russia and the CIS, according to Skytrax. Domodedovo has been chosen by leading global airline alliances – Star Alliance and oneworld – for flights to Moscow.
