Moscow Domodedovo Airport Among Europe's Five Fastest Growing Airports
August 10, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow's Moscow Domodedovo Airport was ranked in the top 5 of Europe's fastest growing airports by passenger traffic in the first half of 2017, according to Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe).
DME is among the leaders of the first group of European airports, which includes the continent's largest airports with an annual passenger traffic of over 25 million. ACI Europe classifies airports into four categories based on passenger traffic.
In the first six months of 2017, the passenger traffic at DME amounted to 14 million, an increase of 10% compared to same period last year, which exceeds the combined passenger traffic growth rate of the European airports in the same period (+9%).
According to Olivier Jankovec, Director General at ACI Europe, the observed improvement in the performance indicators of the European airports exceeds forecasts and testifies to a positive market outlook and the continuing growth in demand for air transportation services.
