1500+ Gadgets Will Help Domodedovo Avoid Flight Delays
March 24, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport, ranked the best airport in Russia, completed a major update of its Resource Management System (RMS). This information system plans in real time the use of the airport's assets - parking stands, check-in counters, departure gates - and distributes tasks among employees. In total, more than 100 operations have been automated.
"As part of the project, more than 1,500 terminals were connected to the RMS system. These are compact mobile devices that are issued to the airport staff involved in ground handling of aircraft. Shockproof devices have IP64 protection against dust and moisture," said Mr. Gennady Zalutsky, CEO at Domodedovo Integration.
Each terminal has an app, using which the agents automatically receive flight information and are assigned tasks involved in delivery of inflight meals, cargo, refueling and pushback operations, services for passengers with limited mobility, etc.
HUB Control, one of the RMS modules, has a ground handling checklist for each aircraft type. The checklist determines the sequence of operations and the resources required for timely departure of the flight.
After receiving data from mobile devices on the status of individual operations involved in ground handling, HUB Control automatically estimates the aircraft's readiness for departure and, if necessary, accelerates ground handling to ensure departures as scheduled. For example, in February 2017 the RMS system handled more than 7,500 flights departing from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to 190 global destinations.
