Asiana Cargo: 10th Anniversary at DME

July 28, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport and Asiana Cargo Airlines are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their partnership. In 2007, the South Korean air carrier launched its first cargo flights to and from DME.

Over the 10 years, the cargo terminal at Moscow Domodedovo Airport has handled more than 36,000 tons of cargo for Asiana Cargo. The key cargo destination is Seoul. The South Korean Asiana Cargo also operates flights from DME to London and Vienna. On its Moscow flights, Asiana Cargo typically operates Boeing 747-400.

In the first half of 2017, growth in both passenger and cargo traffic was recorded. During this period, the cargo traffic at Moscow Domodedovo Airport amounted to 74,000 tons, which is 15% more than in the first half of 2016.

The growth rate of the cargo traffic to the Asia-Pacific region is even higher - 10,716 tons, which is 16% higher compared to the same period last year. This became possible due to the growth in cargo traffic on the flights operated by DME's partners: Air Bridge Cargo, Singapore Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Japan Airlines, Thai Airways.

DME's cargo terminal has dedicated storage areas for explosives, valuable, radioactive, and perishable items. When valuable cargo is handled, enhanced security measures and special processes apply.
