Domodedovo Int. Airport Invested RUB 8.7 bn in a New Segment of Terminal T2

March 9, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport announced the interim results of a key infrastructure project - a new segment of the passenger terminal (T2). By the end of February 2017, RUB 8.7 billion has been invested in the project. Over 30% of the planned scope is completed.

The new terminal is designed and constructed using advanced quality management and control systems - BIM (Building Information Modeling). Information modeling facilitates various complex tasks, including:

  • 3D modeling with support for modifications to individual parts of the project;
  • Rapid development and consideration of several design options;
  • Access to information about the current condition of the project during construction and operation throughout the entire life cycle of the building;
  • Simplified interfaces between various components simultaneously designed by different units.
In 2016, the new terminal project at Moscow Domodedovo Airport won Autodesk BIM Award in Civil Engineering and Construction.

Combined annual passenger capacity of the airport terminal after the completion of Phase 1 at T2 will exceed 45 million passengers. The total cost of the project, including purchase of equipment, will amount to RUB 32.3 billion. Commissioning of the new phase of the passenger terminal will be timed to coincide with the opening of the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
