Permit Issued to Build Terminal Segment 3 at Moscow Domodedovo Airport

April 17, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport, ranked the best in Russia, was granted the permit to begin construction of Segment 3 of the passenger terminal (T3).

T3 will be constructed in several consecutive phases. Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport has issued the official permit for Phase 1 of the construction project. Now, the contractor will be selected and the preparatory work will start.

«Our infrastructure development is based on long-term planning and correlates with the expected growth in passenger traffic. In this connection, the design work on the passenger terminal segment T3 has started already. This approach will make it possible to realize Domodedovo's key advantages to the full - two independent runways and a pool of land assets for the further expansion of the airport facilities,» commented Mr. Igor Borisov, CEO at Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

After the commissioning of two phases, T3 will be able to handle 20.5 million passengers annually and its area will be 235,475 sq. meters. The project will be implemented as part of Moscow Domodedovo Airport's investment program for the development of the airport facilities.

T3 will become part of the passenger terminal and will be built in its western end. The project is based on the adopted architectural concept UNDER ONE ROOF - a single terminal enables the most efficient use of the airport's transfer potential.

Construction on the site of T3 will begin when Segment 2 (T2) of the terminal has been commissioned. Presently, T2 in the eastern end of the passenger terminal is under construction. Phase 1 of T2 will be commissioned by the opening of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

When all the terminal expansion projects (segments T1, T2, T3) have been completed, Moscow Domodedovo Airport will be able to handle more than 75 million passengers annually.
