Domodedovo First in Russia to Greet Bombardier C Series

May 11, 2017, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport, ranked the best airport in Russia, was the first in the country to handle a Bombardier C Series aircraft. The Geneva - Moscow (Domodedovo) flight was operated by the Swiss flag carrier SWISS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport greeted the new aircraft type with a water salute.

«We are proud that Domodedovo has become the preferred destination for premier flights to Russia. We have the resources and expertise necessary to promptly adjust our technology to handle new aircraft types. More than 4.1 million passengers chose Moscow Domodedovo Airport and SWISS for flights to Switzerland, and now our partnership is enjoying a new round of growth,» - said Mr. Alexey Rayevsky, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer at Domodedovo.

Bombardier C Series is a new family of passenger narrow-bodied twin-engine turbofan aircraft by the Canadian Bombardier Aerospace. The series includes two aircraft types - CS100 and CS300, designed to carry from 100 to 160 passengers. The SWISS flight was performed on a CS100.

According to the manufacturer, the Bombardier C Series features modern composite materials, excellent environmental performance (CO2 emissions reduced by 20%), and exceptional passenger comfort thanks to the widest passenger seats among narrow-bodied aircraft.

SWISS has been operating scheduled flights from Domodedovo to Zurich and Geneva for more than 15 years. Since the start of the partnership with Moscow Domodedovo Airport, SWISS has carried out over 36,000 flights from Moscow.
