New Facade of DME Featuring Updated Art and Welcome Messages in Different Languages
The renovation of the large-format faсade installation — a 300 square meter portrait of Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov - has been completed.
The renovated portrait has once again become a striking feature on the passenger terminal faсade and continues to serve as one of the symbols of the airport, which bears the name of the great Russian scientist. The new version retains the familiar appearance of the image, but individual elements and details have been updated, and some fonts have been modified.
The installation was originally placed on the faзade in the fall of 2019 to celebrate Lomonosov’s birthday. Over the years of operation, the material had worn out due to exposure to precipitation and wind — the renovation was a planned step to maintain the terminal’s appearance.
Complementing the renovated faсade is a new inscription in Chinese that reads «Welcome to Domodedovo». This symbolizes the airport’s openness to guests from China, who use Domodedovo’s services through connecting flights. As part of ensuring high standards of service for foreign passengers, navigation signs have already been translated into Chinese, and tourists are provided with travel materials in restaurants.
The work was carried out by SD Flageolet LLC, which won the tender. The project began on Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov’s birthday.
The renovated faсade will continue to delight passengers and employees, preserving continuity and enhancing the visual identity of Domodedovo Airport.
