Domodedovo Named Best Airport in Eastern Europe
Passengers have voted
Moscow Domodedovo Airport the best airport in Eastern Europe.
The annual World Airport Awards 2010 has ranked
the world's best airports. The organizer is the independent research agency
Skytrax Research. 9.8 million respondents from more than 100 countries took
part in the passenger survey conducted between July 2009 and March 2010.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport steadily maintains its
position among the top three airports in Eastern Europe according to the
Skytrax rating since 2004. Skytrax Research annually conducts passenger surveys
assessing the quality of airport services and the convenience of passenger
terminals on 40 criteria. This year, The Skytrax World Airport Awards ceremony
was held in Brussels, Belgium, on March 23, 2010.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest in terms of passenger traffic in
Russia. Its share of passenger traffic via Moscow is 46%. Currently, 75
airlines operate flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to 220 global
destinations, 89 of which are unique in Moscow Region. Among the partners are
35 foreign airlines, 29 Russian, and 11 CIS airlines. In 2009, Moscow
Domodedovo Airport handled 18.7 million passengers.
