Passenger Traffic Growth at Moscow Domodedovo Airport Continued Recording 3.5% in December 2016
January 11, 2016, Domodedovo, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport published its performance indicators in December 2016 and 2016 results.
In December 2016, passenger traffic continued to grow and exceeded 1.98 million - a 3.5% increase year-on-year. Domestic traffic recorded an increase of 2.4% and the number of domestic travelers amounted to more than 1.19 million. Passenger traffic on international flights grew by 5.2% to over 796,000 passengers. Looking back, a 3.9% increase in passenger traffic was also recorded in November 2016.
The most popular domestic destinations in December 2016 were Krasnoyarsk (+55%), Barnaul (+51%), Tomsk (+49%), and Perm (+25%). Among the international destinations, the most popular were Punta Cana (+105%), Dusseldorf (+100%), Sanya (+100%), Tbilisi (+61%), and Yerevan (+28%).
Total passenger traffic through Moscow Domodedovo Airport in 2016 exceeded 28.5 million passengers.
On domestic routes, the annual passenger traffic exceeded 16.6 million. Following domestic destinations recorded highest growth: Sochi, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Krasnoyarsk. Passenger traffic carried on these routes was 3,519,000 - an increase of 27.0% year-on-year.
On international routes, the annual passenger traffic exceeded 11.88 million. Following international destinations recorded highest growth: Larnaca, Punta Cana, Enfidha, Phuket, Djerba. In 2016, 970,000 passengers flew these routes, which is 3.3 times the level of 2015.
