Cargo traffic at Moscow Domodedovo Airport increased by more than 16%

February 17, 2017, Moscow Region. Moscow Domodedovo Airport, ranked the best airport in Russia,* reported the performance indicators of its cargo terminal in January 2017. Cargo traffic grew by 16.3% year-on-year, passing the 9,800 tons mark.

Domestic cargo traffic grew in January by 21.5% to 4,854 tons. In absolute terms, flights connecting Moscow and Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Yakutsk recorded the highest cargo traffic growth. Same as in January 2016, Moscow-Novosibirsk route led in terms of cargo traffic on domestic routes.

International air cargo traffic in January 2017 increased by 11.7% to 4,995 tons. Flights connecting Domodedovo and Yerevan, Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok recorded the greatest increase in cargo traffic in absolute terms. Same as last year, most cargo was carried on flights to Dubai.

The capacity of the existing cargo terminal is approx. 600 tons per day and all types of cargo approved for air carriage can be handled. Domodedovo Cargo Terminal is not only one of the largest and most technologically advanced Russian air cargo complexes, but also among the best in Russia in terms of compliance with international standards of quality in the handling of cargo and mail. The cargo facility has dedicated storage areas for explosives, valuable, radioactive, and perishable items. The total floor area of the cargo terminal is 13,400 sq. m.
