Domodedovo: 10 Years of Leadership

Moscow Domodedovo Airport has set another record: in 2014,
passenger traffic was 33.04 million, which is comparable to the population of
an entire nation, for example Canada. Compared to 2013, air passenger traffic
has grown by more than 7%.
Over the entire past decade, Moscow Domodedovo
Airport has remained the invariable leader of Moscow Aviation Hub in terms of
the number of travelers choosing Moscow Domodedovo Airport for domestic and
international travel. Passenger traffic in 2014 set the absolute record in
Russia and Eastern Europe.
In 2014, Moscow Domodedovo Airport had the 50th
anniversary since the start of flights from the airport. The airport is
constantly developing, expanding its terminals, implementing unique
technologies so that passengers and guests feel comfortable during their stay.
In 2014, Moscow Domodedovo Airport started the
construction of the second segment of the airport terminal to increase
throughput and service level. Upon completion of the project, the passenger
terminal area will almost double by 235,000 m2 and, taking into account the existing project to expand
the first segment of the passenger terminal, will be almost 500,000 m2. The cost of this project exceeds RUB 27 billion.
Simultaneously with the terminal expansion
project, Moscow Domodedovo Airport is developing its airfield infrastructure.
In 2014, reconstruction of the second runway began at Moscow Domodedovo
Airport. The new configuration of Runway 2, expanding and improving the
infrastructure, will support 45 takeoffs and landings hourly, with the total
airfield capacity reaching 90 takeoffs and landings hourly. The reconstruction
project of Runway 2 is included in the Federal Targeted Investment Program for
2014 and for the planning period 2015-2016 and is scheduled for completion in
2016.
In 2014, several air carriers, including Royal
Flight, Air Manas, Ellinair, Air India, and Gulf Air, became partners of
Russia's largest airport. The extensive route network of DME's partner airlines
allows passengers to fly to any global destination: airport's partners offer
more than 200 destinations, 85 of which are unique in Moscow Aviation Hub.
Every year, Moscow Domodedovo Airport improves
its service processes to create comfortable environment for its passengers. For
instance, since last year, free unlimited wireless Internet connection (Wi-Fi
network DME_free) is available to travelers via Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
Advanced Wi-Fi delivery technology in the passenger terminal of Moscow
Domodedovo Airport support unlimited connection time - passengers can listen to
their favorite music, chat online, view media. In 2014, Moscow Domodedovo
Airport offered car owners a new mobile app - DME Parking - for quickly and
conveniently paying the parking fee without leaving the car. The new service
accepts payments by bank card or from mobile account without any extra banking
fees. Earlier, Russia's largest airport was the first in the country to offer
parking fee payment by SMS: Beeline, MTS, and Megafon subscribers can pay
parking fees directly from their mobile account. In 2014, a new car park opened
at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Now, the airport has eight car parks with a
combined capacity of 4223 parking spaces.
In 2014, Moscow Domodedovo Airport once again
won at the Skytrax World Airport Awards - the respondents named DME the best
airport in Russia and the CIS. The survey of more than 12 million passengers
was conducted at 410 airports around the world. Travelers noted the quality of
the passenger services offered at Moscow Domodedovo Airport by qualified staff
with the use of state-of-the-art technology.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is Russia's largest aviation hub. In 2014, the airport
handled 33.04 million passengers. According to Skytrax rating, it is the best
airport in Russia and the CIS. Members of the world's leading airline alliances
- Star Alliance and oneworld - have chosen Moscow's Domodedovo
International Airport for their flights to and from Moscow.
